A festive kitchen disco for B – Russell Sprout B-Russell comes in from the cold – A Russel in the Cold features the cast of Planet Munch Puppets, B-Russell Sprout, Chick Pea, Count Calories, Peachy, Tutzy and Brocc. Lonely B-Russell seeks solace in creativity mixing tunes on an abandoned turntable he found on the veggie patch. The colourful tasty crew of Planet Munch welcome a cold and lonely B-russell Sprout in from the cold to enjoy the festive season. A fabulous kitchen disco ensues and a fun time is had by all.

 

We were delighted to add this little story to our festive collection, this one kind of wrote itself. Born of a need for love, connection and acceptance of those in need and informed by so many sad migrant stories.

Russel was cold and lonely in the studio and whispered this little story into my ear, the film explores themes of social isolation, in particular at Christmas time and invites all to consider a more inclusive approach to life; a continuation of the tradition to set an extra place at the table for unexpected guests.

Munchmas time is not the best time for all.

When you’re sparkly invite to the Fantasy Ball

Is lost in the post, or completely forgotten

You can find yourself feeling alone and forgotten.

Fear not there’s a friend who can always relate,

Not always invited to the festive plate

A little green fellow with a sweet smiling face

Excluded and lonely, so often his fate

Left out in the cold on the veggie patch

The place where his plans for distraction did hatch.

A turntable he’d found with records to scratch

His tunes were on point, he could even beat match.

Russel the Brussel was his disco DJ name

Spreading joy through music his favourite game.

His famed kitchen disco was really quite the thing

The dance moves would flow and Posh loved to sing

Peace, love and connection his main motivation

Russel the Brussel spreads love to all Nations

His tunes can be heard, near, far and wide

Fresh and direct from a warm place inside

Food for thought and inclusion don’t leave him out

Joy to all is after all what Munchmas is all about

This year be like Russel and hit the dance floor

Let yourself go, don’t be a bore

A festive dinner table is not cold and exclusive

We are delighted to share that this film A Russell in the cold – Merry Munchmas, was awarded a special mention in the Diversity Equality and Inclusion category at the Big Syn Film Fest With over 300 charity films entered, we were delighted to have been among the finalists, celebrating our work at Trim Tots CIC to give children the best possible nutritional start in life by helping they and their parents find their way to a healthier lifestyle.
