Omega on her throne
Making a Splash 2025 – Omega Always Finds Her Voice with Planet Munch Puppets
Introducing “My Element”
We’re delighted to share that Omega Always, our eco-warrior and mermaid at Planet Munch Puppets, is diving into her element with an exciting new creative venture. In partnership with the University of Hertfordshire and Hertfordshire Growth Hub, we’re embarking on a journey to help Omega find her voice through a series of short films. This project is made possible with the expertise of Herts Uni Film Alumni, who bring their creativity and technical prowess to the process.
We welcomed the team from Herts Uni to the Nysa Art Studio this week to embark on the creation of new content entitled “My Element – Going Underwater with Planet Munch Puppets,” this series introduces audiences to Omega’s multifaceted character: a sea mistress (she loves a bit of sewing), eco-warrior, disco diva, avid recycler, and passionate ocean protector.
We’re showcasing Omega’s journey as she tackles environmental issues with humour, grace, and a touch of mermaid savagery. From confronting microplastics tangled in her shimmering hair to turning discarded nets into fashionable upcycled creations, Omega’s story is a celebration of sustainability and creativity.
This partnership builds on our mission to educate and inspire families to embrace healthier, more sustainable lifestyles through art and storytelling. As we expand Omega’s world, we’re inviting audiences to dive in and engage with her mission to protect our oceans and get crafting.
Stay tuned for updates and sneak peeks as Omega Always makes waves in the fight for a cleaner, greener planet. Let’s join her in making a splash for change!
A deep dive into the project.
Through our Eco-Warrior, Omega Always we’re facilitating conversation on ocean pollution, microplastics, fast fashion, and climate literacy. Aiming to blend in-person and digital engagement, the programme offers families, schools, and young people opportunities to create, learn, and connect.
Eventually leading to the creation of a collaborative, immersive installation, “My Element” uses storytelling, humour, and hands-on creativity to spark behaviour change and nurture eco-conscious communities.
Key Project Highlights
- Elemental Shorts:
We’re crafting a series of shorts, following Omega Always and her adventures. These videos, developed in collaboration with emerging and established artists, share vital sustainable messages in a fun way. Audiences can interact with the content, contributing ideas, questions, and creative input. - Recycled Reef Installation:
A community co-creation effort where families craft stunning underwater elements using online learning resources. These creations form part of a larger interactive installation, providing an opportunity to participate in sustainability-focused artistry. - Educational Resources and Workshops:

“My Element” offers work placements, training opportunities, and creative roles for students and emerging artists.
Why It Matters
Creativity and environmental education are increasingly absent from traditional curricula, yet they are essential in preparing children to navigate the challenges of our time. Our project not only highlights sustainable solutions but also empowers children to voice their concerns and ideas in a safe, supportive space.
What’s Next?
The immersive journey of Omega Always will culminate in the creation of a touring puppet show, “My Element”, designed to entertain and educate audiences across the country. This project builds on the success of our Planet Munch Puppets, expanding our creative offerings while tackling new themes relevant to today’s world.
At Nysa Projects, we believe creativity is a catalyst for change. Through vibrant puppetry, immersive experiences, and the power of community co-creation, our latest initiative, “My Element”, combines artistry and education to inspire a sustainable future.
Big thanks to collaborators Trim Tots CIC, Hertfordshire Growth Hub, Hertfordshire Uni and Watford Recycling Art Project, helping to ensure the programme is impactful, inclusive, and environmentally conscious.
