We can’t wait to welcome you to The River of Light Lantern Parade on the 14th of March from 5-7:30 in Hemel Town Centre.
The lanterns are all complete, well done for all your hard work and thanks to everyone for supporting the project, we are excited to see you all on Saturday.

River of Light Lantern Parade – running order and general information.
Event Date: Saturday 14th March
Event Time: 5.15pm – 7.30pm
Parade Gathering point: The Rainbow Stage, Marlowes, HP1 1DX
Registration: 1 member of the group should register on arrival at Information Point located next to The Rainbow Stage.

We are expecting up to 500 people made up of community groups, schools and families, drummers and performers.

Running Order
5.15pm Register. Arrive with your Lanterns at the Rainbow Stage, Marlowes, Hempstead, HP1 1BH. A steward will be assigned to your group and you will be shown where in the parade you will be.
5:15pm – 6:00pm Enjoy performances from street performers, New Moon Morris and African Drummers: Dembis Thiong‘
6pm Welcome from the Mayor and line-up with your Lantern and countdown.
6.15pm Parade departs and travels towards Riverside
6:30pm Parade pauses at Riverside to see lantern installations at the River Gade, with some short performances.
6:45pm Return to the Rainbow Stage carrying giant flower lanterns collected from Riverside, symbolic of returning Spring.
7pm Closing Speeches and Photoshoot
School Children and HomEd Community are invited to set their lanterns on the stage and pose for photos.

*Though we endeavour to keep timings to the event schedule, some flexibility may be required. The event is scheduled to finish at 7.30pm.

Please check your lantern lights work. Firstly, check that the battery tag has been removed. If you have any issues with your lights after arrival, head to the Information Point located at the gazebo at The Rainbow Stage or ask a steward to direct you.Please only bring what you need in a small backpack, so your arms are free to carry lanterns. There is no storage facility for bags. Please bring a bottle of water.
